Explosion protection

When the new ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU came into force in April 2016, the old European Directive 94/9/EC was finally superseded and means more responsibility for all companies "involved in explosion protection". And what does this mean for explosion protection?

Every company that manufactures or deals with explosion protection systems/devices is responsible for testing and documenting them in accordance with the relevant standards from the 60079 series, so that complete traceability of all system and device parts relevant to explosion protection is possible.

This now also applies to system components and devices which, according to the explosion protection document, are located in Zone 2 or Zone 22. The previous possibility of the old Directive 94/9/EC to assess the equipment in Zone 2/22 only according to the state of the art with a simple manufacturer's declaration and to enable operation in the explosion zone of this Zone 2/22 is no longer possible with the implementation of the new Directive 2014/34/EU.
